The project anticipates significant outcomes:
Kick off meeting
The initiation of the project will be marked by a kick-off meeting in Rome. This in-person gathering will enable the project team to establish personal connections, build relationships, and develop trust, enhancing collaboration beyond initial online meetings. During the meeting, key project documents, including the Project Management Handbook, Quality Assurance Plan, Risk Mitigation Plan, and Communication and Dissemination Plan, will be introduced. Partners will also outline responsibilities for the upcoming online training sessions, ensuring a smooth and coordinated start.
Establishment of the new European Consultative Body for Migrant Girls Civic Engagement
Under this work package, we will conduct an Online Workshop with the selected 84 members of the newly established European Consultative Body for Migrant Girls’ Civic Engagement. This consultative body will include both migrant or refugee-background girls and local girls, reflecting a diverse and inclusive target group. The primary objective of the workshop will be to formally establish the Consultative Body. Additionally, it will serve as an opportunity to introduce the project’s goals, outline the training program, and review the various phases of the project.
Online training sessions
This work package will deliver 13 online training sessions for the newly formed European Consultative Body for Migrant Girls’ Civic Engagement, with each 2-3 hour session covering a key topic and led or co-led by partner organizations.
Transnational Partner Meeting
Following the training phase, and before beginning the recommendation workshops, the consortium will convene in Germany to evaluate the training outcomes and establish the next steps. This transnational partner meeting will be key to ensuring a collaborative approach to the drafting of recommendations, a pivotal stage in the project.
Drafting of recommendations
The Consultative Body will meet online five times to draft a policy recommendation paper promoting young migrant and refugee girls' inclusion in decision-making. Guided by WP3 findings and WP4 guidelines, the paper will incorporate research on gender-specific challenges and best practices. Roma Tre University will lead the drafting, with all partners conducting a peer review to ensure quality and impact.
Transnational online Partner and Consultative Body Members Meeting
Before the Brussels meeting, the consortium will hold a one-day online session with the European Consultative Body for Migrant Girls’ Civic Engagement to review the recommendation drafting process and finalize plans for engaging public authorities. This upcoming meeting with policymakers, organized by Welcome Home International, is central to the project’s impact, making thorough preparation essential.
Meeting in Bruxelles with public authorities and TPM
The Consultative Body will meet with EU authorities to present and discuss their policy recommendations for including young migrant and refugee girls in decision-making. This event, organized by the Belgian-Italian Chamber of Commerce with support from the coordinator, offers a vital platform for young migrants to share their perspectives directly with policymakers. Alongside, the consortium will hold a two-day transnational project meeting (TPM) to coordinate and support this pivotal engagement. This work package will span three months, allowing time for thorough planning and preparation.
Final project meeting
At the project’s conclusion, the consortium and Consultative Body members will gather in Venice, Italy, to share and discuss the project’s outcomes and their impact. This meeting will also focus on future steps for the Consultative Body and enhancing collaboration among partners.
